Capturing History Today
Featured Initiatives and Partners

This initiative provides curriculum for K-12 through college to support classroom-based instruction in conducting interviews featuring those who have helped build successful communities during the past century.

Our elders now have the ability, like no time before in our history, to tell and share our own stories directly to a mass audience. Our first initiative is to provide a searchable archive of stories and first-hand accounts from elders and leaders from communities of color who have led and helped build the multicultural, multi-racial America of the 21st Century. We want to collect these stories from elders while they are alive, rather than having only historians tell their stories.

A Long Way from the Block with Anthony Thomas features amazing artists from various walks of life such as painters, poets, writers, chefs, musicians, athletes, and more. Through conversational dialogue, the show explores the great stories of their lives and shares lessons they learned along the way.
